Birth Sister

I have a growing curiosity and awe of birth. It has been a spiritual journey witnessing birthing women.  I believe a birthing woman must remain in charge, aware that she holds all the answers and it’s my role to help her anchor into her deep knowing if she may forget.

Some women will want to birth alone, others want loved ones close by.

Men/ partners can have a beautiful and important role in holding women in the birth space ( if a woman wants this). I find that having a sister can take the weight off the partners, especially if they are choosing to freebirth.

My interest in freebirth was seeded by witnessing a dear friends journey. I had to unpack all my understandings and ideas of birth. I reflected on my own 4 births and it has helped me understand a spiritual layer to birth.

Pregnant women are intuitive and want what’s best for their babies period. Listening to themselves and following their intuition is a skill that does require practice.

I loved holding space for my friend throughout her wild pregnancy, so much so I have claimed my space in the birth world for my local community.

I am not a medical midwife nor can give any medical advice.  My place in birth is to be a sister.  Honouring the birthing woman and holding her hand if she needs it.

Birth is a spiritual journey, a rite of passage for women to claim.

A remembering and coming home.
